.....The 1899 School Tax List indicates that District 9 was the Dry Creek School. In later years it was known as the Welte School, because the Welte Cheese Ranch provided the majority of children for a few years. .....The school had a small population, probably no more than ten at any given time. The school was closed in 1950, the building was soldto Frank Renner who moved it onto his property. .....The land on which the school stood is now in Highlands Ranch, CO, one mile south of County Line Road, off Daniels Park Road, in the extreme Northwest corner of Section 7, Township 6 South, Range 67 West. |
